We reached our home port last night and celebrated our ten week cruise! What a celebration it was! I was so proud of the passengers of THW DINAMI who weathered storms and kept on swimming during a difficult time of the year! As a group we lost over 2500 pounds in the last ten weeks! Amazing!
We started out the evening paying tribute to the victims and families of the Clackamas and Connecticut tragedies. We were reminded through these horrific events that life is precious. I challenged the clients to live out their very best lives in response to these events. We are better when we take care of ourselves. Better to those we love and better to those we work and play with. Rather than having these stories stir up fear in our souls, we choose to have them motivate us to reflect and pursue our very best lives.
The passengers of the Dinami had their final weigh-in's, their after pictures taken and we heard about their weight loss one last time from our Cruise Director, Glenda McCoy! We celebrated as our team mates received certificates for making the 20, 30, 40, and 60 pound clubs! Congratulations to all of you! Outstanding job!!
Marlene D. had us in tears as she hit her 100 pound weight loss mark Tuesday! She also won the prize for the greatest weight loss % for the week! How fitting...it was $100! Congratulations Marlene! You are an inspiration at 71 years old! Who ever said "you can't lose weight when you get older" hadn't met you!!! We're so proud of you!
We highlighted some special winners last night!
Male with the greatest weight loss: Mark M. 61.5 pounds!
Female with the greatest weight loss: Mya M. 35.4 pounds!
Male with the greatest weight loss %: Joe T. 19.96% !
Female with the greatest weight loss %: Renee R. 20.75% ! (Renee had the greatest % of EVERYONE)
Our Alumni did it again! They presented scholarships to deserving passengers so that they can continue on this journey at the Winter Team Challenge 2013! They also gave out 10 "Travelers Gift" books to lucky winners! Alumni...We love you!!

Then it was time to announce our top three teams for the Fall Team Challenge! We had a first at this 14th season of the Team Challenge! All three teams were a husband a wife duo! Congratulations to all of you!

Second place and winners of $500 "From Thick to Thin" Jim and Renee with a 18.24% of weight loss
First place and winners of $1000 "Mission Slim Possible" Joe and Bilinda with a 19.51 % of weight loss!
You all did an amazing job in the last ten weeks! I'm pleased for you individually, but also excited for you as couples. Feeling good about yourself and taking care of yourself makes a huge difference in your married life!
It takes me a few days after each Team Challenge to get my feet back on the ground! One of my favorite things to do is celebrate people success and I get to do it every ten weeks at The Healthy Weigh! It was a powerful night and I'm proud of all of you!
Our ten week cruise was a great success. I believe that with the changed thinking of our passengers, we will see positive results in the next weeks to come until we meet again for the Winter Team Challenge 2013!
To all of you, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I believe we are in for some outrageous success in 2013 and I can't wait!
The DINAMI is back at the dock, but the memories of this fall cruise will last a life time! I trust that you will have pleasant memories when reflecting on your sailing experience on THW DINAMI! Godspeed.

Holiday Party Aboard THW DINAMI!
We had a great time at our party this week! Beautiful harp music, a professional gift wrapper teaching us all the secrets to creating those beautiful packages, a festive cold drink, "fun" Christmas sweaters, and some great healthy food ideas for the rest of the year made for a good time! We even had some carolers drop by at the 7 PM gathering to wish us a Merry Christmas! What fun!
We've got one week left of this cruise and I can't help but look back on the amazing things we've learned together! It's been another life changing 10 weeks at The Healthy Weigh! Our teams are pushing throughout the waters vying for the title of "biggest loser." It will be exciting to see who comes out on top next week!
This week our winners were:
Noon "Overweighty Matey's No More" Melissa and Denise with a 2.75% of weight loss!
5:30 " Too Heavy Honeys" Nicole and Mya with a .89 % for the week.
7:00 "Uncharted Waters" Anita and Donna with a 3.67% of weight loss for the week!
Congratulations to all our winning teams for the week! They took home some great "stand up vegetable" trays as their gift for the week! I'm sure they will be putting them to good use this holiday season!
I'm so proud of all the passengers of the DINAMI who have been faithful to the program over these holiday weeks! They can be VERY proud of the effort they've made during a difficult time of the year for "dieters." Yesterdays food display helped out a bit to encourage healthy, good food for their holiday tables!

Strength and Power!
We talked about Strength and Power onboard the DINAMI Tuesday! Strength coming from our breakthroughs and our adversity, Power coming from Clarity...and Clarity, is knowing what you want!
We focused on our future a bit Tuesday as we looked at a list of wants...a list of musts, that will be sure to pull us to our goals. The passengers of THW Dinami have easily given me lists of what they "don't want," but struggle verbalizing what they "do want." We addressed that Tuesday and I pressed the passengers and crew to really look at the reasons they are afraid to admit to "wanting" something!
Fear of failure, worthiness, our inability to dream and hope...are just some of the reasons we stay stuck in areas of our life. I took "I don't want" statements and changed them into "I want statements." It was powerful to look at it that way and I think it was an eye opener. Clarity brings power and power is what we need to accomplish the great tasks of our lives!
I was excited to witness all the great weight loss for the week. Our Cruise director announced Tuesday night that our passengers have lost 2000 pounds so far in this Team Challenge! How exciting is that?
We had some great individual losses and wonderful Team losses as well.

I was excited Tuesday to make my big announcement about the Winter Team Challenge 2013! We will begin our Challenge on January 15th with a Program Introduction Class and have our first weigh in on Tuesday, January 22nd.
I'm pleased to announce that I will be taking our Winter Team Challenge participants on a journey inspired by the book "The Travelers Gift." Ever since I read the book years ago, I have wanted to dig in deeper, and take a group of people with me as I did that! Well, I've decided it would be a POWERFUL, theme for the Winter Team Challenge! I believe it will go down as one of the most life changing 10 weeks we've ever had! I can't wait!
But before then...we still have things to do on this cruise! Our last two weigh ins are going to be important! Tuesday, we'll be having a little Christmas party with some harp music and festivities. All passengers are invited to wear their favorite Christmas sweater Tuesday. It should be fun!
Your Challenge for the week is two fold:

2. Wear your Christmas sweater next week!

Shoulds or Musts...Push or Pull??
Cabo San Lucas was our sunny port of call this 7th week of our Team Challenge cruise! We were inspired by our Alumni friends, Steve and Patty Loster who recently moved to Cabo to pursue one of their dreams! The changes they made at The Healthy Weigh, not only with their weight, but with their thinking, gave them the confidence to make this big move! Steve and Patty, We celebrated you Tuesday!
Tuesday was all about progress! That's what we're all really after. Progress in every area of our life! Change in inevitable...but progress is a choice! Some passengers of THW DINAMI, are looking at their progress so far this 10 weeks and feeling great about it. Others, not so much. They great thing is, we all have the opportunity every day, to begin again. Sometimes progress requires "do overs!"
I talked about the difference between motivation that pushes and motivation that pulls. The "I shoulds" vs. the "I Musts." To be successful for long term, we've got to be pulled toward what we want! The key to continued progress with your weight loss is to create a desire so strong that you are pulled toward it...you MUST have it! Pushing requires will power and will power doesn't last. Pulling is automatic and you can't keep from getting what you really WANT!
We had GREAT weight loss this week in spite of it being Thanksgiving! It was so exciting to hear about all the passengers that were "down" for the week! Congratulations to everyone who had a plan and worked your plan! I'm proud of you!
Our top teams for the week were gifted with the ever inspiring life preservers and Walgrens gift cards! Those will come in handy for Christmas!
Noon: "From Thick to Thin" Jim and Renee with a 1.80% of weight loss for the week!
5:30: "Cruise Control" Ruby and Debbie with a 1.22 % and a win the second week in a row!
7:00: "The Last Syrah" Ami and Gail with a 1.78% of weight loss for the week!
Great job you guys! You had some wonderful weight loss this week!

As we are preparing to enter into the month of December...the very last month of 2012, I reminded our passengers that we can have a pulling kind of, progress making kind of, permanent life change, no matter what the month, what the holiday, what the day. When you've created a desire for the life you really want...none of that matters!
Here's to one of the most powerful December's you've ever lived...full of progress and change!

What's Your Plan of Attack?
We had an unexpected day at sea due to the storm. Good thing THW DINAMI is such a powerful vessel because we fired her up to 22 knots and out ran the storm. We'll be in Cabo San Lucas next week, but for this week we gathered together on the ship one more time before we spend the day giving thanks with our families and friends on Thursday!
This day at sea gave me the opportunity to "get rea"l with all the passengers. I might not have given the talk that they expected to hear from me the week of Thanksgiving...but I believe it was really good one! We talked all about the plan!
Plan; a scheme, program, or method worked our BEFOREHAND for the accomplishment of an objective; a plan of attack!
Our time together Tuesday was focused on our plan of attack for Thanksgiving day. My advise this day could have been "Stay on the program, don't deviate, having dressing is not an option..." But instead the passengers of this cruise ship heard me say..."Make a plan, and follow through with it." "Make a plan and be a person of your word."
The first question everyone needs to ask is "What is my objective?" Do I want to lose weight over Thanksgiving? Do I want to stay the same weight? Do I want to come back next week having stayed 100 % of the program? What is my objective. From there, its' all about the plan.
With 21 meals between now and next Tuesday and plan might look like this:
My objective: To lose 1.5 pounds by next Tuesday
My plan of attack: Stay on program 20 meals between now and next Tuesday, drink all my water every day, exercise 4 to 5 times before next Tuesday. On Thanksgiving Day; eat turkey, cranberry, BIG salad, veggies, one spoonful of dressing, one small dessert with coffee.
Yes, I said that!!! Here's what I believe. To make a plan that is balanced and healthy and be disciplined enough to follow through with that plan is the most powerful weight loss program of all. One of the keys to being successful with this plan is that the weekend following Thanksgiving needs to be planned out as well. Everyone must be prepared with program foods and flip that switch to be 100% on program the rest of the weekend!
Each passenger was encouraged to fill out a "plan of attack" sheet with an objective and a plan, for both Thanksgiving Day AND the weekend following! I'm excited to hear about the balance and the discipline that our clients show this Thanksgiving.
We had some happy winners this week and some great weight loss!
Noon: "Team Titanic" Betty and Stacy with a 2.53% of weight loss
5:30: "Team Cruise Control" Ruby and Debbie with a 2.24% of weight loss
7:00: "Team Crusin' the Holidays" Betty and Sandi with a 2.67% of weight loss

Storms Happen!
Storms happen...they happen in life and they happen when we try to lose weight! The questions isn't whether we will go through storms...but how we'll handle them. I related storms to EXCUSES this Tuesday. Excuse; a reason or explanation put forward to defend or justify a fault or offense.
I challenged our passengers to look back on their weight loss endeavors and identify the storm (excuse) that was put before the goal to lose weight and live a different life style. Some have been insignificant and others tragic, but either way, they cause major damage.
I introduced our cruise Director, Glenda, and she did an amazing job helping us all understand the amount of control we have when the storms come. She challenged us to look at the things in our "back pack" related to the storms that come. We were all inspired as we looked at what we really have control of...in the midst of a storm.
We had some great 2.0 pounds weight losses and 3 of our passengers went home with a $50 gift card! Congratulations to you all!!!

Just Keep Swimming!
Things were pretty fishy on this 4th week of our Sail A-Weigh cruise! We had another glorious day at sea, but spent it in the galley cooking FISH! Our Tuesday was all about FISH!
My desire was to inspire our clients to EAT MORE FISH! I think we struggle eating fish because:
We don't know how to buy it
We're not sure how to cook it
We over cook it and end up with dry fish!

So...we covered not only the GREAT benefits of eating fish, but we learned a bit about choosing a great piece of fresh fish and had 5 recipes discussed and displayed! I think we're on our way!!!
I think the biggest motivation for our passengers of THW DINAMI is that people who eat more FISH, lose more weight! That's motivation enough during this great month of November, 2012!
Our prize for the wining teams this week was donated by Nancy H. One of the coveted prizes of past Team Challenges has been Nancy's amazing cooking class in her home. Six of our hard working passengers will be attending a class with Nancy and will take home the food they make together! Thank you Nancy...and Congratulations to our winners!!! Here they are!
Noon: Team 'Bit by Bit,' Bev and Jeanna 2.24% of weight loss for the week!
5:30: Team 'Cast A Weighs,' Debbie and Kristine 1.95% of weight loss for the week!
7:00: Team 'Mission Slim-Possible,' Joe and Belinda 2.08% of weight loss for the week!
These teams are taking November by storm!!! Calm waters, but powerful weight loss!!
We learned more about the benefits of fish, but we were also inspired by our friends from "Finding Nemo." "Just Keep Swimming"...was the mantra of the day! No matter how difficult life gets..."just keep swimming." If you've followed program beautifully and you're not seeing the results you want..."just keep swimming." Whether your going it alone without a partner, or have someone to go on this journey with..."just keep swimming."
We are on week 4 of this outstanding cruise and we have EVERY reason to "just keep swimming."
We've got a couple of challenges for the week that are going to keep all passengers focused!

Aloha!
We had a great day at our first port of this 10 week cruise...HAWAII! With leis around our necks and sunglasses on to fight the bright sun, we had a great Tuesday on the shore!
This Tuesday we focused on our beliefs systems! What we believe about ourselves and the world around us, has EVERYTHING to do with how we act. How we act has EVERYTHING to do with losing our weight and keeping it off for life. So losing our weight and keeping it off for life has EVERYTHING to do with what we believe about ourselves and the world around us!!!
I gave some important examples of beliefs systems that get in the way of being successful at losing weight. Because our beliefs dictate our thoughts and our thoughts dictate our feelings and our feelings dictate our actions, having unhealthy belief systems can keep you from the success you are so wanting!
We talked about how to identify your beliefs, and how to go about changing them if they're not working for you! Re-parenting ourselves is very necessary when we become adults and need to make changes. It's exciting to think about what changes we could make if for the next 10 to 20 years we parented ourselves and did a really great job doing it! What would you tell you? How would you treat you? How would you reward you for great behavior? What truths would you tell yourself daily to begin to help you change the way you think...if you were your parent?
It's kind of a funny concept...but a powerful one at that!
Since we were in Hawaii I shared with the passengers, about the Aloha Spirit! Aloha means both hello and goodbye. We all decided to say aloha (goodbye) to old beliefs and aloha (hello) to new, healthy beliefs! Aloha also means love and affection.
The literal meaning of aloha is "the presence of breath" or "the breath of life." It comes from "Alo," meaning presence, front and face, and "ha," meaning breath. Aloha is a way of living and treating each other with love and respect. Its deep meaning starts by teaching ourselves to love our own beings first and afterwards to spread the love to others! The passengers of THW DINAMI definitely have the Aloha spirit!
As the day went on and our passengers got more excited about the changes they are making...I noticed that they all started putting on sunglasses...I asked a few of them what was up, they replied "Our futures so bright...we gotta wear shades!" ABSOLUTELY!!!

What's That Bubbling Up?
What an amazing week at sea we had on THW Dinami! I'd say that starting out with a 937 pound weight loss for the week was pretty spectacular! Everything about this group seems spectacular! I know we've just left our home port but I have a feeling that this cruise is going to rock our worlds!
It was fun to see the passengers pick up their photos at the photo gallery while they showed off their cruise folders! Wow, we've got some artists traveling on this trip! They also represented their muster stations well, by turning in all their homework for the week!
Glenda, our Cruise director, had a great time reporting all the outstanding weight loss for the week! Congratulations to EVERYONE for an outstanding week of weight loss. It seems to me that we've got some cruisers planning to break some records!

Congratulations to these three teams, who I know, worked hard this week to start off this challenge by doing their very best! Thank you for supporting our Team Challenge time and time again with your first week sponsorship! Our three teams walked away with $100 each and the all important immunity idol...this challenge, life preservers! I can't wait to see how these 3 teams will decorate them for next week!
With all the celebrating this week, I got a little serious as well. I talked about all the emotions that must be "bubbling up" this very first week being on program. You want to find out "what's up with me?"...quit using your drug of choice and see what bubbles up! It's so easy to use food to take off the edge, sooth the emotions or numb the pain. I'm sure all of our passengers were feeling a little on edge this week, their emotions felt a little raw and pain had to have been bubbling up! As hard as that might have been this week, it's encouraging too. When things bubble up...you can deal with them!
I made my most passionate plea to encourage ALL the passengers of THW Dinami to "do the work" this team challenge! Just losing weight on a great nutritional plan is not the answer to permanent weight loss. Dealing with our issues that 1. caused the weight gain and 2. kept us from losing the weight is what it's really about!
I introduce my series "Change Your Thinking Change Your life" and challenged...really challenged our clients, no matter where they are in their journey, to download the first week and begin the work of this great 10 week program!

ALL ABOARD!
Welcome aboard The Healthy Weigh DINAMI!
We set sail yesterday for the cruise of a life time! We're embarking on a ten week adventure that is guaranteed to be educational and promises to be life changing! Every passenger aboard this vessel will determine what kind of voyage it will be.
As the passengers boarded the ship yesterday, they were greeted by the crew, met the Cruise Director, Glenda McCoy, had their first ship board photo taken and were introduce to the rest of the passengers! We've got some creative team names that will keep us smiling for the remainder of the cruise. Here's a few of my favorites.
"Hips, Hips Aweigh" "Cast A Weighs" "Knot Turning Back" "Chicks Ahoy" "Uncharted Waters" What fun!
As we pulled away from the dock this week, I asked a couple of very important questions.
1. What are you going to leave behind on the shore to have a life changing 10 weeks?
Some of our passengers might need to leave past experiences or failures behind. Some, old habits. Others might need to leave self doubt or fear on the shore, while others will leave negative thinking or stubborn mind sets. Many of our cruising friends are going through difficulties right now and will need to choose to focus on themselves and let go of the things they can't control in the next 10 weeks. I challenge our mates to look at the thing or things that have sabotaged them in the past and encouraged them to leave those things behind in this next ten weeks as well.
2. Where are you going?
The first step to ANY change is knowing what you want...knowing where you're going! That's why it's so important to ask that question too. Where are you going? What do you want to accomplish in the next 10 weeks. How much weight do you want to lose, what new habits do you want to form, what life style changes do you want to implement that will be the start of a new bright healthy future?
Our ships name, DINAMI, is greek for Strength and Power! This ship is going to push through the waters and take us places we've never been before! The answers to both of those questions will be the beginning of finding the strength and power necessary to go to new places!
Just as we were finishing up our time together the emergency signal blared and we were strongly encouraged to participate in a mandatory muster station drill! Our crew and passengers moved quickly and orderly through the ship to their assigned muster stations! These muster stations groups will be important as we sail and need support and encouragement. We will also have some friendly muster station competition during these next 10 weeks! While our groups were split in to 4, we practiced one of our favorite Healthy Weigh mantras for this time of year..."NOT ONE STINKIN' PIECE" was the shout out from each muster station! I must say, it was pretty impressive!
When you make a decision and cut off any other possibility...choosing to completely stay away from the halloween candy is the only way to go! Who needs a piece of stale bite size candy with fives grams of fat in it anyway???? Not the passengers of The HealthyWeigh Dinami!!!
We ended out the gatherings with our challenges for the week.

As the last gathering came to a close, I heard the ships horn blow and felt the engine start to rumble...we are on our way and I'm excited to experience these next 10 weeks aboard THW DINAMI!

These Were Outstanding Summer Games!
Our first place team extinguished the Olympic torch last night as we officially closed out these summer games! The last ten weeks were truly life changing for many of our Olympians!
We celebrated with 10 Olympians who, in the last ten weeks, hit their 100 pound weight loss mark! Congratulations to Tim E., Bev H., Anita P., Peggy S. and Barbara B. You are the example of what perseverance really looks like! You have shown us that you have the Olympic spirit living inside of you! We are so proud of you. Thank you for showing us that the race is not always to the swift...but to this who keep on running!
We had our final weigh-in's last night, took our after photos and heard from "Glenlock" one last time. We celebrated as our challengers received certificates for making the 20, 30, 40 and 50 pound clubs! Congratulations to all of you for such a terrific job in these last weeks!
We highlighted some special winners last night!
Male with the greatest weight loss: Brent S. with a 50 pound weight loss!
Female with the greatest weight loss: Gretchen F. with a 40.8 pound weight loss!
Male with the greatest weight loss %: Brent S. with 22.7%!!!
Female with the greatest weight loss %: Bev. H with 19.17%!!!
I gave out a couple of personal awards last night!
To Annie Banceu...the "Facebook Friend" award, for always being such a great source of inspiration to our closed Facebook group. Thanks Annie!
To Peggy Schwartz..."Most Inspirational" Peggy not only hit her 100 pound mark during this Team Challenge, but she has inspired us all with her amazing life adventure! During this Team Challenge she went on a two week bike ride in France! Congratulations and thank you Peggy...you're showing us what it looks life to live a compelling life!!!!
Our Alumni went over the top last night with their THREE full ride scholarships to the fall Team Challenge and a $100 prize for the winner of the perfect attendance drawing! Alumni, we love you!
They presented Tim Elliott, Gretchen Fretwell and Karmee Crockett with gift certificates that surprised them all! Three very deserving Olympians are going to continue on thanks to the generosity and inspiration of our Amazing Alumni! Tim E. won the $100 drawing too! What a great night for Tim!
Our top three teams for the Summer games receive prize money, bronze, sliver and gold medals and the all important laurel wreaths!
Bronze medal, $300 winners: Team "Gold Medal Gordos" 16.65% Congratulations Ron and Brian!
Silver medal, $500 winners: Team "Golden Girls" 16.97% Sue and Becky, you girls did it!!
Gold medal, $1000 winners: Team "Heavy Medals" 20.45% Awesome job Brent and Chris!
Brent and Chris, I LOVE IT when a husband and wife Team compete and win the Team Challenge! It's life changing! You look amazing! And Brent, we look forward to seeing the photos of you running your 1/2 marathon with your daughter!!
It takes me a few days after the finale of each Team Challenge to come back down to the ground! One of my favorite things to do, is celebrate peoples success and I get to do it every ten weeks at The Healthy Weigh! It was a powerful night and I'm so proud of all of you.
Our Summer games were a great success. The flame is extinguished, but the memories of these games will last a life time!

Who Will Wear the Laurel Wreath?
We're almost to the finish line! This is the lap where you keep your eyes on the goal and you don't look back! We've got one week to go of this Team Challenge and it's a close race! Who will wear the laurel wreath? Who will wear gold, sliver and bronze?
We had an educational Tuesday! We discussed the "miracle foods of the 21st century" as well as tips for keeping weight off when you arrive at goal weight. I love inspiring people to live their best lives, but sometimes you've got to get down to the facts...we did that this week!
We gave away some great prizes this week too. Congratulations to Tammy F. (4.06%) and Peggy S. (4.26%) for having the greatest weight loss %'s for the week! They both won the 10 week fall Team Challenge for FREE!
Our winning teams for the week won some all important gift cards to buy some new clothes! By this time in the challenges, clients clothes are looking a little baggy! At Noon team '100 Meter Egg Beaters' won for the week with a 3.21% of weight loss! Congratulations to Arty and Tammy! You newlyweds have done a terrific job in this last 10 weeks!
At 6, team 'Thunder & Lightning' took the win with a 3.77% for the week! Peggy and Debbie took a victory lap once again and inspired us all! I'm so proud of you girls!!
Glenlock did a great job explaining the journaling technique of "clustering." She helped us understand our last challenge for this 10 weeks!
YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK: Cluster the phrase "Compelling Vision" and bring it back next week.
YOUR BONUS CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK: Lose 2.5 pounds! Every client with a 2.5 pound weight loss for the week will be put into a drawing for $100 to be given out at the Grand Finale !
Tuesday, September 25th 6 PM....our Grand Finale and closing ceremonies! We'll be crowning our winning teams with laurel and placing the medals around their necks...oh, and handing out $ too!
Thursday, September 27th 6 PM Stabilization class for all clients at or near goal weight. Any one is invited that would like to have more information about stabilization and maintenance.
Tuesday, October 2nd at Noon and 6 PM is our only day for our 30 minute "infomercials." I'll be explaining the Team Challenge in detail for any one interested in the Fall Team Challenge!
Tuesday, October 9th at Noon and 6 PM is our Program Introduction Class for all participants of the Fall Team Challenge. I will be explaining the nutritional plan in detail.
Tuesday, October 16th at Noon and 6 PM we will set sail on our ten week cruise! This is the first weigh in of the Fall Team Challenge!

Decisions Shape Our Destiny!
Many of our Olympians related to the message I gave on Tuesday. We talked about the fine line between quitting and success! We talked about how adversity makes champions! We talked about the fact that hope lies on the other side of despair!
The question I asked myself as I prepared for this gathering was "Why do some people take massive action and go all the way, and others don't?" The answer comes down to this; People that stay the course and follow through have one thing in common... a compelling vision of an outstanding future! I reminded our Olympians that a compelling vision isn't how much they are going to weigh, or what size they'll be...a compelling vision is WHO they are going to become, what their life will look like and who they'll influence!
With two weeks left of this Team Challenge, everyone has to begin to ask the question...what now?
Am I going to quit at the end of this 10 weeks? ( this was just a 10 week diet and now I'm ready to stop)
OR
My vision for my future is SO compelling that I can't quit! ( I'm changed and I'm NEVER going back to the way I used to be)
It's in our moments of DECISION that our destiny is shaped. Destinies were shaped Tuesday night at the Team Challenge...we're "sailing a weigh" in the fall on another 10 week adventure with a group of people compelled to move forward and change their lives! I'm thrilled! Our theme was announced and we're excited to take the inaugural voyage of THW Dinami! (that's Greek for Strength and Power)
Our winning teams for the week were thrilled when they won the Fall Team Challenge for FREE by losing the greatest % of weight for the week.
Congratulations to Brent and Chris of team "Heavy Medals" who lost 2.22% for the week! And a big congratulations to our 6 PM team "Takin' it to the Ice", Anita and Donna! Anita hit her 100 mark this week too! They had a lot to celebrate for sure!
I offered up a fun contest to power up all our Olympians this 8th week of the challenge! Next Tuesday, the client at Noon and again at 6, with the greatest % of weight loss for the week will win a fall Team Challenge for FREE! Good luck to all of you!

The Best You!
It was another GREAT day at The Healthy Weigh! I'm not sure what made me smile bigger...the fun Zumba demonstration or the two teams that won at noon and 6!?
Thanks to Tresa & Beth from Zumba fitness! It was great to have you come and lead our clients and Alumni in a little Zumba demo! We appreciate the FREE Zumba passes too! I think burning calories the Zumba way looks like a lot of FUN!
I was especially excited yesterday with both our wining teams! At Noon, Tim and Jerry took the win with a 1.61% of weight loss! Team "Beach Boys" are going to have fun decorating those shirts! Tim, has lost 110 pound with The Healthy Weigh and had NEVER won the weekly team prize until yesterday! Congratulations...and it's about time huh Tim??? :-)
At 6, it happened again! Team "Lota Lap A Losers" took the win with a 1.88% of weight loss! Tobey and Joanie were pretty excited! This is Tobey's 3rd Team Challenge and he has lost over 50 pounds and also had NEVER won for the week! Congratulations to you guys too. You are coming up your goal weights and you are looking wonderful!
Both of these teams were "arranged marriages." That's always fun to see those teams do well together!!
We talked about another important subject Tuesday...Visualization. Every great Olympian does it...and we should do it too! Olympians understand that the minds role in motivation and behavior is one of the most critical elements in their success!
I shared a personal story of a visualization technique that a counselor took me through years ago...a powerful technique that was life changing for me. It involved seeing in my minds eye, 'the best me.' I visualized in a quiet relaxed state, walking on a path. I saw myself there, walking, looking around, feeling the breeze and noticed in the distance that someone was walking towards me. As that person got closer and closer, I realized in my minds eye, that person was me...the best me.
It was a powerful experience for me because I immediately saw 'the best me' and realized that I wasn't living out that life. The question that was asked next was..."why not?"
I was aware that the only person keeping me from living out my best life...was me. The result of that exercise brought about YEARS of change for me!
I challenged our Olympians to 'see' themselves this week in a place that makes sense to them...in a classroom, at home, at the office, on a run...where ever you need to be, to connect to your BEST YOU!
Visualize yourself there...your best self. And then ask the important question...what's keeping my from being her/him?

Forgetting the Past...Pressing Toward the Goal!
We were ALL inspired Tuesday by former Olympians! From the very 1st Olympics way back in 776 BC where the runners would push through the finish line, looking only at the prize...a laurel wreath, to Eric Liddell of "Chariots of Fire" fame, who fell in a race and got back up to cross the finish line first, and finally Wilma Rudolph who had a tragic childhood and chose to forget what was behind and press on toward the gold medal prize...three of them to be exact!
To put our Tuesday gatherings message in three simple sentences...here's what I said in a nut shell!
~You won't win the race if you've taken your eyes off the prize!
~If you've fallen down or been pushed down...GET BACK UP!
~Forget what's behind and press on toward the goal to win the prize!
We've got 36 days to go in these Summer games...A lot can happen in 36 days, and a lot WILL happen for those Olympians who make a decision and strain for the finish line in these last 4 weeks!
We heard from "Glenlock" as she encouraged us to improve our coping skills. She helped us understand more about anger, grief and forgiveness! Powerful words from our adorable mascot! Thank you Glenda.
Congratulations to our winning teams of the week! 'Heavy Medals' took the win at noon with a 1.82% of weight loss. Congratulations to Brent and Chris! You two have been doing a great job even with all your travels! At our evening gathering 'Skinny Up' took the prize again! Jessica and Tony won for the day with a 2.93% of weight loss! I've been so inspired with your "all in" attitudes! You came to this challenge with determination and made a decision to be 100% on program, and it shows! Thanks for leading the way!
YOUR CHALLENGES FOR THE WEEK: As we continue to work on the CD series each week, I challenged our group to listen to week # 5 this week. "Exercise and Weight Loss ~ It's a Math Problem." Everyone is expected to come next week prepared to share their maintenance calories with us!

What's Your Pleasure?
It seems that every Tuesday we are celebrating another milestone in the lives of our amazing clients! This Tuesday was no exception. We had TWO of our clients hit their 100 pound weight loss mark today! Congratulations to Bev B. and Tim E. for staying the course, persevering and being such an encouragement to the rest of us! We're so proud of you! Tim celebrated by sharing 100 bottles of water with his fellow Olympians...thanks Tim!
We celebrated a first this Tuesday as team "Skinny Up" won the weigh in for the third week in a row! Congratulations to Tony and Jessica who made a decision and have had great success because of it! They had a combined weight loss % of 2.45 for the week. They shared their prize again with our second place team at the 6pm gathering. Thanks you two...but I'd be a little nervous about next week, I think we've got some teams that want to take those T Shirts from you! :-)
At noon the newlyweds won with a 2.63% of weight loss! Arty and Tammy are showing us that two are better than one! Tammy hit her 50 pound mark today as well. Congratulations to team "100 meter Egg Beaters"...you guys rock!
My message this week was serious and intense...but good! I spent some time on the pain VS. pleasure theory. Everything we do, we do out of our need to seek pleasure or avoid pain. Of all the things we CAN change about our brains...this is one that we won't change. We will always seek pleasure...that's how we are made. The problem isn't that we seek pleasure, the problem is what we link pleasure to.
As a nation we are becoming increasingly indulgent. Whether in our consumption of food, alcohol or drugs. At present 1 in 3 adults are obese and 1 in 10 has a substance use disorder with alcohol or drugs.
So what's up with that? Why are we becoming junkies?
Three factors are converging on us:
1. Our brains naturally drive us to seek our pleasurable experiences
2. Our stress levels are higher than ever, which weakens our self-control
3. Our environment is presenting an increasing variety of availability of pleasurable options
The unfortunate consequence is that over indulging in extreme pleasure is changing our brains. Our desires are becoming increasingly insatiable and our lives increasingly unhappy.
I shared some strategies to protect us from being hijack by the wrong pleasures.
Ask yourself... What is my pleasure? Decide what you'll link pleasure to.
Improve your ability to deal with stress in healthy ways.
Control your availability to non-healthy foods/drink. Keep your enviornment safe.
Find your calm. This might take some time if you've been using food to sooth you in the past.
Link pleasure to things that really matter in your life!
Most important, I encouraged our teams that there is no time like now to decide to change forever. The longer your vice holds you captive, the tighter it's grip.
I invited our Teams to go on a field trip with me to Clark Counties Drug Court. August 30th we will be visiting the superior courts and hopefully learning as we observe Clark County residence working their programs to be free from drug use.

London's Got Wenlock...We've Got Glenlock!
We had a little fun looking back at some of the "adorable" mascots of former Olympic games. London is sporting two funny looking characters this year...Wenlock and Mandeville...but we've got our own adorable mascot, "Glenlock!" I introduced Glenda this week to begin to teach us and review with us the homework that our teams will be working on for these Olympic Games. She did an excellent job helping us understand that our beliefs about ourself and those things around us have EVERYTHING to do with us losing our weight and keeping it off! I look forward to her teachings in the weeks to come!
We celebrated with winning teams this week and were sponsored by Annie B. and Tobey G. Thanks you two for gifting our winning teams with the very cool Pampered Chef pineapple cutter AND a fresh pineapple! What a great gift! At Noon team '50/50' took the win with a 2.01 % of weight loss! Michelle and Jennifer are keeping their word about losing 50 pounds in this team challenge! They both had a great week! At 6, for the second week in a row, team 'Skinny Up' took the win! Tony and Jessica, I'm proud of you guys for winning the second week in a row and having a weight loss of 2.09%! Since they only need one pineapple cutter in their home, they donated the other one to the second place team 'No Silver Just Gold' Good job Susan and Cayah!
Glenlock focused on beliefs systems Tuesday, while I spoke on the power of decision! It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently...and what precedes all of our actions? A decision!
Our decisions, not our conditions, determine our destiny!
I encouraged our Olympians to make decisions...lots of them! I reminded them that when a decision is made, in a moment...just like that...everything changes! No matter where you are today, how long you've been there, how many times you've disappointed yourself, make a decision TODAY that puts you on a new path moving in a new direction. I challenged our teams to realize that the decisions they make, even about what they eat, will affect generations to come!

At 6, for the second week in a row, team 'Skinny Up' took the win! Tony and Jessica, I'm proud of you guys for winning the second week in a row and having a weight loss of 2.09%! Since they only need one pineapple cutter in their home, they donated the other one to the second place team 'No Silver Just Gold' Good job Susan and Cayah!
Glenlock focused on beliefs systems Tuesday, while I spoke on the power of decision! It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently...and what precedes all of our actions? A decision!
Our decisions, not our conditions, determine our destiny!
I encouraged our Olympians to make decisions...lots of them! I reminded them that when a decision is made, in a moment...just like that...everything changes! No matter where you are today, how long you've been there, how many times you've disappointed yourself, make a decision TODAY that puts you on a new path moving in a new direction. I challenged our teams to realize that the decisions they make, even about what they eat, will affect generations to come!
