How do you re-cap a day like yesterday??? It was an emotional day for me because I shared my story. But more important than that, it was emotional for me because I am SO passionate about equipping my Healthy Weigh friends to cope and live their very best lives! I preached this week like it was easy. I preached it like it didn't hurt and I preached it like we can all just DECIDE…but I delivered this lesson with tenderness and love because I know that life is really hard.
Our lesson for the day was all about coping skills. Coping skills are the thoughts, emotions and behaviors that you use to adjust to changes that take place in your life. I talked about the difference between avoiding, numbing and stuffing pain, and really coping. I shared the "life cup" lesson which does a great job illustrating the need to process not only the hard things in life, but the day to day things too. It's not hard to open up your heart with a group of people like we have at THW! Although telling my story put me in a vulnerable place, I felt safe and loved. It's wonderful what can happen to your soul when you feel safe and loved.
I spent most of the hour on what I believe is the key to really being free from using food as our drug of choice. Forgiveness. Forgiveness of ourselves and others. What's buried alive, never dies, so it's crucial that we deal with the things in our lives that have been buried...for some of us, for MANY years.
Glenda did a powerful job in the "after class" explaining even further, the importance of forgiveness and coping. It was good to sit in and be motivated, once again to do what ever it takes to live a life taking personal responsibility for yourself and healing the past wounds that are fertile ground for addictions. Thank you Glenda.
Our winning teams for the week:

I offered up a couple of great incentives!

Your Challenge for the week:
Go through the forgiveness process that I explained on Thursday. ( Start with forgiving yourself if need be)
It was a serious day at The Healthy Weigh, but my heart is full. I'll be thinking about you all this week and truly anticipating the stories I'll be hearing of what choosing forgiveness has done for you. Living your best life...choosing forgiveness is a BIG part of that!
With love and as always... encouraging you,
Letha
