Change Isn't THAT hard!

I apologized this week to my friends at The Healthy Weigh. I've been preaching for years that "Change Is Hard." And for years, I've believed that! I've been convinced for decades that to lose weight and keep it off for life you've got to change your beliefs! That much is true...I've just done a lot more research about CHANGE and have come to think about it in a whole new way!


As I've always said, It’s not good enough to just change your actions because actions are temporary at best if right beliefs are not fueling them. It’s all about CHANGE!  That’s why I've encouraged you to work so hard to change your thinking…because you can CHANGE your LIFE!!!

The Healthy Weigh is all about CHANGE!  I've taught MANY a lesson about CHANGE,  heck…we even did a ten week team challenge on the stages of change (back in 2014, or was it 2013???…fascinating! I need to repeat it.
But here’s what I shared this week as I’ve been learning more about change. (because it’s still all about change!) 
For years, I knew and watched how difficult it was for people to change and knew that if change didn’t happen, life wouldn't improve. I saw people stuck and believed that getting unstuck would require change and well, you know...change is hard.

But what I’ve learned is this…getting unstuck requires change…but change is not so hard! 
Here’s a principle that has everything to do with becoming somebody different:

Every healthy thing God created changes!

If something doesn’t change it’s dead. The world was designed so that it is in constant motion, never sitting still, always dying and being reborn.

Everything is changing, all the time. Even you.

Physically, you will regenerate several times before you die. The skin you have now will not be the same skin you have in 7 years.
What this means for us is we get to let go of the mistakes we’ve made in the past.
We also get to let go of the identity other people want to trap us in. We get to change.
We get to become somebody different.

Think about it…One of the ways we’re encouraged to change is that things are constantly starting over. We were created to sleep, so every night you lie down and go into an odd kind of coma for about 8 hours and then you wake up and start another day. Think of it like a do-over. And it’s not only you.
The whole earth is starting over every morning.

I’ve been thinking about the belief that CHANGE IS HARD…that would mean that we somehow think of ourselves as fixed beings.
That is, beings who cannot change. But this is a lie.
We can change and were designed to change.

Sometimes it the smallest decisions that can change your life!

And today that decision might just be that you are going to give yourself permission to change! That you are going to start believing that EVERYTHING changes and you were meant to change! That you don’t have to be stuck! You don’t have to keep living the life that you've always lived…you don't have to be the person everyone expects you to be…you can change…and guess what…change isn’t that hard!!!
