Aloha!

We had a great day at our first port of this 10 week cruise...HAWAII! With leis around our necks and sunglasses on to fight the bright sun, we had a great Tuesday on the shore!

This Tuesday we focused on our beliefs systems! What we believe about ourselves and the world around us, has EVERYTHING to do with how we act. How we act has EVERYTHING to do with losing our weight and keeping it off for life. So losing our weight and keeping it off for life has EVERYTHING to do with what we believe about ourselves and the world around us!!!

I gave some important examples of beliefs systems that get in the way of being successful at losing weight. Because our beliefs dictate our thoughts and our thoughts dictate our feelings and our feelings dictate our actions, having unhealthy belief systems can keep you from the success you are so wanting!

We talked about how to identify your beliefs, and how to go about changing them if they're not working for you! Re-parenting  ourselves is very necessary when we become adults and need to make changes. It's exciting to think about what changes we could make if for the next 10 to 20 years we parented ourselves and did a really great job doing it!  What would you tell you? How would you treat you? How would you reward you for great behavior?  What truths would you tell yourself daily to begin to help you change the way you think...if you were your parent?

It's kind of a funny concept...but a powerful one at that!

Since we were in Hawaii I shared with the passengers, about the Aloha Spirit! Aloha means both hello and goodbye. We all decided to say aloha (goodbye) to old beliefs and aloha (hello) to new, healthy beliefs!  Aloha also means love and affection.
The literal meaning of aloha is "the presence of breath" or "the breath of life." It comes from "Alo," meaning presence, front and face, and "ha," meaning breath. Aloha is a way of living and treating each other with love and respect. Its deep meaning starts by teaching ourselves to love our own beings first and afterwards to spread the love to others!  The passengers of THW DINAMI definitely have the Aloha spirit!

As the day went on and our passengers got more excited about the changes they are making...I noticed that they all started putting on sunglasses...I asked a few of them what was up, they replied "Our futures so bright...we gotta wear shades!"  ABSOLUTELY!!!


We had some winners for the week and we had some amazing Hawaiian Prizes!

What's That Bubbling Up?

What an amazing week at sea we had on THW Dinami! I'd say that starting out with a 937 pound weight loss for the week was pretty spectacular! Everything about this group seems spectacular!  I know we've just left our home port but I have a feeling that this cruise is going to rock our worlds!

It was fun to see the passengers pick up their photos at the photo gallery while they showed off their cruise folders! Wow, we've got some artists traveling on this trip! They also represented their muster stations well, by turning in all their homework for the week!

Glenda, our Cruise director, had a great time reporting all the outstanding weight loss for the week! Congratulations to  EVERYONE for an outstanding week of weight loss. It seems to me that we've got some cruisers planning to break some records!

With all the celebrating this week, I got a little serious as well.  I talked about all the emotions that must be "bubbling up" this very first week being on program. You want to find out "what's up with me?"...quit using your drug of choice and see what bubbles up! It's so easy to use food to take off the edge, sooth the emotions or numb the pain.  I'm sure all of our passengers were feeling a little on edge this week, their emotions felt a little raw and pain had to have been bubbling up! As hard as that might have been this week, it's encouraging too. When things bubble up...you can deal with them!

I made my most passionate plea to encourage ALL the passengers of THW Dinami to "do the work" this team challenge! Just losing weight on a great nutritional plan is not the answer to permanent weight loss. Dealing with our issues that 1. caused the weight gain and 2. kept us from losing the weight is what it's really about!

I introduce my series "Change Your Thinking Change Your life" and challenged...really challenged our clients, no matter where they are in their journey, to download the first week and begin the work of this great 10 week program!

ALL ABOARD!

Welcome aboard The Healthy Weigh DINAMI!

We set sail yesterday for the cruise of a life time!  We're embarking on a ten week adventure that is guaranteed to be educational and promises to be life changing! Every passenger aboard this vessel will determine what kind of voyage it will be.

As the passengers boarded the ship yesterday, they were greeted by the crew, met the Cruise Director, Glenda McCoy, had their first ship board photo taken and were introduce to the rest of the passengers! We've got some creative team names that will keep us smiling for the remainder of the cruise. Here's a few of my favorites.

"Hips, Hips Aweigh"  "Cast A Weighs"  "Knot Turning Back"  "Chicks Ahoy"  "Uncharted Waters" What fun!
 
As we pulled away from the dock this week, I asked a couple of very important questions.

1. What are you going to leave behind on the shore to have a life changing 10 weeks?
Some of our passengers might need to leave past experiences or failures behind. Some, old habits. Others might need to leave self doubt or fear on the shore, while others will leave negative thinking or stubborn mind sets. Many of our cruising friends are going through difficulties right now and will need to choose to focus on themselves and let go of the things they can't control in the next 10 weeks.  I challenge our mates to look at the thing or things that have sabotaged them in the past and encouraged them to leave those things behind in this next ten weeks as well.

2. Where are you going?
The first step to ANY change is knowing what you want...knowing where you're going! That's why it's so important to ask that question too. Where are you going? What do you want to accomplish in the next 10 weeks. How much weight do you want to lose, what new habits do you want to form, what life style changes do you want to implement that will be the start of a new bright healthy future?

Our ships name, DINAMI, is greek for Strength and Power! This ship is going to push through the waters and take us places we've never been before! The answers to both of those questions will be the beginning of finding the strength and power necessary to go to new places!

Just as we were finishing up our time together the emergency signal blared and we were strongly encouraged to participate in a mandatory muster station drill! Our crew and passengers moved quickly and orderly through the ship to their assigned muster stations! These muster stations groups will be important as we sail and need support and encouragement. We will also have some friendly muster station competition during these next 10 weeks! While our groups were split in to 4, we practiced one of our favorite Healthy Weigh mantras for this time of year..."NOT ONE STINKIN' PIECE" was the shout out from each muster station! I must say, it was pretty impressive!
When you make a decision and cut off any other possibility...choosing to completely stay away from the halloween candy is the only way to go! Who needs a piece of stale bite size candy with fives grams of fat in it anyway???? Not the passengers of The HealthyWeigh Dinami!!!

We ended out the gatherings with our challenges for the week.

2. Where are you going? (What are your goals for the next 10 weeks?)

As the last gathering came to a close, I heard the ships horn blow and felt the engine start to rumble...we are on our way and I'm excited to experience these next 10 weeks aboard THW DINAMI!
