Just What Are You Thinking About?


Tuesday is a great day at The Healthy Weigh. This week our teams lost a total of 387.5 pounds! We are well on our way to another record breaking Team Challenge. These teams are truly going BEYOND THE LIMITS!

Our focus today was all about our thought life. Our thinking must be stellar to reach the summit. Since our thinking dictates how we act, choosing positive thinking is a must! A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts. Man is made or unmade by himself.

For most of us, thinking rightly is a never ending, non stop, life pursuing venture; it's as hard for many, as climbing a mountain. But we are up for the task. Changed thinking means turning your back on your old thoughts and walking away from them. That is going beyond the limits. That is life changing!

Our winning teams today took home backpacks to decorate and won the ever so popular "cooking class with Nancy." Thanks, Nancy, for donating your time, energy and finances to this group!

What's Your World View?


Wow! Week two of this Winter Team Challenge did not disappoint! We started out strong as we pulled away from base camp! Although many of our climbers are still acclimating to the altitude, they still had a GREAT week! Between our noon and 6pm groups we lost over 900 pounds this week! Now THAT'S going beyond the limits!

There was an exciting announcement this week! Our team challenge participants are going to be given the chance to climb a real mountain! Wendy J. is heading up the group that will climb Mt. St. Helens in June. Those who sign up will be training together for the next 6 months to accomplish this great feat! Exciting stuff!!

We also met our very own Sherpa guide to help us with our climb this week. Mingma(Glenda) will be sharing a bit with us each week as we push higher up this big mountain! She challenged us to "do the real work" in the next 9 weeks as we are losing weight so that this journey will truly be life changing!

Our winning teams were excited to receive the "Trophy" for the week, our Beyond The Limits bright red back backs. I'm expecting those packs to be covered with greatness by the time this challenge is over! The two top teams at noon and 6 pm also were sponsored and gifted $100 each by Glenda Bigalky and Barry Brandenburg! Thank you to both of you for showing your support this very first week of this winter Team Challenge!

Congratulations to team 'Fireball' Doug and Arty, for winning at noon with a 5.06% of weight loss for the week! Arty dropped over 17 pounds this week, not too bad!
At 6:00 team 'Thunder and Lightning' went beyond the limits with a 6.68% of weight loss! Peggy and Debbie took a victory lap before they received their back packs! Congratulations you two!

With all the celebrating and fun, we also focused our minds a bit on our world views about food. We all have a world view about things whether we realize it or not. Our world view/beliefs are based on our individual assumptions, our values and allegiances by which we interpret the world around us. It's so important for all of us to evaluate our world views, decide if they are "working for us" and change them if necessary to have our weight loss be permanent! I showed the groups a few images to cause us all to ponder the different world views close to us and far away as well. Our world views will dictate how we think and will always dictate how we act! My desire in the next 9 weeks is to challenge the world views of all the climbers!

We received our ANCHORS for the next ten weeks. A great list of events to promote community and help our team mates stay focused and connected in the weeks to follow. Our very first event is a mall walk this coming Friday night at 5! It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new and burn some calories at the same time! Meet at 5 by the giant chess board in front of Macys!

We're climbing friends! I couldn't be more excited!!!

Let the Climb Begin!


How perfect that snow fell over our counties yesterday as we climbed out of our tents at base camp and started the climb to the summit! We missed a few of our climbers because of the snow, but most were able to attend! We weighed in 87 teams yesterday that are ready to go BEYOND THE LIMITS!

With before pictures taken, teams announced and our first challenge given, the teams of the winter BEYOND THE LIMITS Team Challenge are ready to go! It was fun to hear the names of our teams and see some of the creative "outfits" that represented them! I can already tell that this is going to be an epic group of climbers!!!

With enthusiasm levels high and hope even higher we have set out to go beyond the limits. Beyond what we've done before, both collectively and individually. I challenged our climbers to consider what going "Beyond The Limits" would mean to them in this next ten weeks. We all have set limits on ourselves for years. Some limits consciously and others subconsciously. Going beyond the limits is going to be about looking at what you've always done and deciding if you've got what it takes to push beyond that!

For some of our clients that will mean finishing what they've started, for others it will mean making a commitment to the nutritional plan that they've never made before. Others will be pressing into new numbers they haven't seen in years... and along with that comes a new lifestyle that hasn't been lived in years! Going beyond the limits might look like adding regular exercise to a sedentary life, or possibly engaging fully in all The Heathy Weigh has to offer in the next 10 weeks including the challenges and homework, really "working" the program.

For each individual in the room yesterday, going beyond the limits will be their own personal climb! To reach the summit, to do what hasn't been done before, we will ALL need to push beyond our limits!

YOUR CHALLENGE/GOAL FOR THE WEEK:
Ask yourself the question: "What does going beyond the limits look like for me?" Write down the answer to that question and bring it back into The Healthy Weigh next tuesday for a ticket in the drawing!

The journey up this mountain has begun. Lean on each other and believe in yourself and you will go BEYOND THE LIMITS!
