Happy Thanksgiving!

We've been focused on habits for the last 7 weeks and we've learned a lot about them! We took some time off today to look at, strategize and get a plan for Thanksgiving.

Here's a little re-cap pf my Thursday encouragement:

"The pressure is building…can you feel it? This time next week.  This day next week you will be facing a big day in the life of a “dieter!” Thanksgiving. And if you were “just a dieter”  I’d be worried, but you are more than that.  You are a person, a man, a woman who is making small changes over a long period of time.  You are a person who is changing the way you think about food, your relationship with it and your need for it to satisfy you.  You are a person who is giving food the amount of importance it deserves to have. Or should I say, you’re giving it the identity it deserves.
I’m not saying that getting through this week is going to be easy…by I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it!"

I went on to help our Healthy Weigh friends get a plan for Thanksgiving! People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan.  So planning for this Thanksgiving day and putting it down in writing was a big key to successfully navigating our way through this holiday.

Some strategies we considered were:
Going for a walk first thing in the morning (even 20 minutes will boost your mood)
Eat a light breakfast with 1/2 Entree a milk and a fruit
Have your water bottle ready and filled up all day
Plan to help more this year. Set up, tear down
Be the family photography...stay engaged
Eat a Healthy plate at meal time with 1/2 your plate full of vegetables
Help clean up...be the one in the kitchen taking care of things
Get rid of leftovers
Send food home if dinner is at your house
Don't take food home if someone wants to send it with you
Have a plan for the weekend to follow with your food, water and exercise
oh...and don't forget what Jenny says..."Open the windows and let the smell go out!"

I spent the rest of the hour doing what I could to motivate! I firmly believe that the level of commitment to the program is directly related to the level of motivation we have. Keeping motivation alive is a must and motivation always comes from our motive...the reason we do or act a certain way. Just what is your motive? Why does it matter that you healthy and slender?  It always gets back to how bad we want it!

I offered a couple of competitions to keep us focused over the next two weeks.
  • Attend on December 3rd and be entered into a drawing for $50 ( two winners at each gathering)
  • Lose 4 pounds from today through December 3rd and be entered into a drawing for $100 (one at each gathering)
Your Challenge for the week:
  • Download week # 3 "What's in Your BackPack ~ Controlling What You Can" and do the homework provided
  • Continue to keep your #healthyholidayhabits card!
As I spend these next days with a grateful heart, I will surely be counting my friends at The Healthy Weigh on my list.  I'm so honored and thankful to be able to encourage you each week.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,

Letha
