Record Breaking Day at The Healthy Weigh!

Since 2010 we've been waiting for someone to break the record for the most weight loss in one Team Challenge. It happened yesterday...with two weeks to spare! Congratulations to Spencer S. He beat the record held by Ryan B. and holds it today with over 70 pounds! We'll see what he does in the next two weeks! What a great celebration we had!

We concluded our NO CAVE NOVEMBER contest as well. Every client with a 10 pound weight loss from Oct. 31st through yesterday was in a drawing for $150! We drew that ticket out at the 6PM gathering and the prize went to a Noon time winner!  Heather L. you won the $150 !!! Congratulations to you!  Our big announcement was that we gave the top two challengers with the greatest % of weight loss for the entire NO CAVE NOVEMBER, the prize of "Healthy Weigh for Life." It was pretty exciting for everyone when we announced Spencer and Jamie, husband and wife, the winners ... Spencer with a 12.22% for the 5 weeks and Jamie in second place with 10.97%! I can't help but think that Spencer and Jamie's family will be changed forever with this gift! I'm so proud of the two of you and so excited for your future!

I did my best to inspire my Healthy Weigh friends as we let go of  temporary change, quick fixes and running sprints and replaced them with permanent change, long term solutions and running marathons. I explained PAWS, Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, and helped our clients to see that the psychological part of change, takes a lot longer than the physical part of change. PAWS occurs because our brain chemistry is gradually changing.  It's believed that the symptoms of PAWS take 2 years to process through...when you're "working the program."  I spent some time talking about what "working the program" really looks like! It's NOT about trying to follow a DIET...it IS about doing the psychological work that's involved when you determine to change any destructive behavior.

One of the biggest and most important scientific findings for processing through PAWS is to reward yourself for your changed behavior. It is completely necessary for you to transfer what you believed pleasure was, to a new belief system about pleasure for you to keep your weight off for life. We do EVERYTHING our of our need to avoid pain or seek pleasure. We MUST find ways to make eating healthy and taking care of ourselves a pleasure!

We work hard at The Healthy Weigh, but we also play hard!  We had fun announcing our winning teams of the week!
Noon: Team "Cropless" Janean and Marilyn won for the week with a 2.78% of weight loss! You girls are looking AMAZING!
6PM: Team "Shrinky Dinks" Spencer and Jamie won with a 4.38% for the week!  Wow you two, way to go!!!

Your Challenge for the week:
  • Reward Yourself!  Come in next week with a list of rewards related to behavior change!
  • Download week #6 "Body Soul Spirit ~ The Spiritual Perspective" and do the homework provided.
  • Wear your "best" Christmas sweater next week to our Thursday gathering!
Keep "working the program" my friends, invest in yourself for the next two years for a life time of change!  I'm
with you all the way!

Always encouraging you,
Letha
