Mt Everest...The Best of The Best!

We couldn't get through this "Best of The Best" team challenge without revisiting our climb up Mt. Everest.  Only 2500 people have conquered that mountain, so it was the perfect inspiration for our winter challenge of 2012! We decided that to lose weight and keep it off for life, it takes a strong mind, a body that doesn’t give up and a spirit that says I can do all things... just like when climbing a mountain! That great mountain was our inspiration back in 2012 and it was this week too!

With every Mt Everest climb comes a Sherpa as a guide.  We met our very own Sherpa today...Mingma! (Glenda) Sherpas provide guidance and support on long journeys up the mountain. Our Sherpa Mingma surely does that!

With a Sherpa by our side, we talked about all the gear that it takes to climb a mountain. Much of it has been provided by The Healthy Weigh. The best nutritional plan available, a support group necessary for change and some seriously good emotional counseling regarding the real issues behind overeating...just to name a few.

What we also know, here on week 6,  that the terrain is getting steeper, the oxygen is less abundant and the climate is getting harsher!  Not only do we need a Sherpa and appropriate gear, we need to have some powerful stuff on the inside of us to reach the top as well!

  • Courage;
Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.
  • Belief in yourself;
It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not.
  • Excitement about what you’re going to see at the top;
I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.  ~Michelangelo
  • An attitude that says  "I’m not going to give up;"
Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail . Ralph Waldo Emerson

The rest of the climb up this mountain, even as we head into the holidays, might seem the most difficult, but will be the best weeks as well!  The view from the top is glorious! I'm looking forward to the celebration on top!

We tackled Thanksgiving, celebrated winners, including Macie hitting her 100 pound mark, and set some goals until we see each other again on Dec. 4th!
