The Best of the Best Goes Outdoors!

We addressed a northwest epidemic at The Healthy Weigh Thursday...hibernation! It's getting to be that time of year when it gets cold, dark and wet, and we stay indoors! The weather and our attitude about it, is one of the contributors to weight gain and depression here in the northwest.  We decided to do something about it! We re-claimed the winter of 2014 and we've decided to do the same this fall!

In keeping with our theme, "The Best of the Best," I went back and pulled from what I felt was one of the most life changing Team Challenges.  "Northwest Adventure."  Winter of 2014, we braved the dark, cold winter and we went outside! Our 10 week challenge focused on the miracle drug... EXERCISE and we refused to let the weather get us down!

Exercise turns out to be the closet thing to a wonder drug that self-control scientists have discovered. For starters, the willpower benefits of exercise are immediate and the long term effects of exercise are even more impressive.  It not only relieves ordinary, everyday stress, but it's as powerful an antidepressant as Prozac!

The goal for the rest of this Team Challenge is to do three 20 minute activities each week for a chance to win one of two FIT BITS! We are going to bundle up, get outdoors and enhance our moods. I'm excited! It will be an easy start this weekend as I see the weather is going to cooperate with us and give us beautiful days to start our outdoor adventure!

We had some fun this week giving away hearts, money and prizes!  Congratulations to Frank, Tanya, Darcy and Craig! You earned $50 extra dollars this week for making some great decisions!
We also awarded our heart of the week to Kelly F. for the greatest % of weight loss! Good job Kelly!

Our winning Teams for the week:
Noon: Team "Best Believing" Luba and Pam with a 1.97% of weight loss!
6PM: Team "Costco Cuties" Darcy and Michelle with a 2.32% of weight loss!
Congratulations to you all! GREAT JOB!

One of the highlights this week was hearing from one of our Alumni...Gretchen! She shared her story of overcoming! Having lost 150 pounds and going on on a year of keeping it off, she was an inspiration to us all!

I'm excited about all we're learning during this challenge, but more excited about what the information will do in the lives of our Healthy Weigh family! Change is happening at The Healthy Weigh and  we'll all notice the change this weekend when we step out of our front doors and greet the beautiful northwest all bundled up! Here's to re-claiming our fall!

I'll see you on the road! :-)
Always encouraging you,
Letha
