The Buck Stops Here!

No Cave November is in full swing at The Healthy Weigh! Our teams lost a total of 132 pounds Tuesday to start out the November contest. It's exciting to see how many of our team mates are already past their 20 pound mark on this 6th week of the Team Challenge!

Noon held our winners for the day and our greatest weight loss of the day. Team 'String Bean Jeans' danced away with the win with a 2.03% of weight loss for the week! Sandra and Sherry were excited as they left the building with banners worn proudly and beautiful throws courtesy of one of our amazing clients.

At five our winners couldn't have been happier! Team 'All is Not Lost' shed a couple of tears as they were crowned winners for the week. Jan and Jill have been working VERY hard and it paid off this week with a 1.85% of weight loss! Congratulations you two. I'm so proud of you. Jill was excited to wear her banner proudly as she teaches math at Battleground High School this week! Go Tigers!

Our last group of the day was small but mighty! Team 'TomKat' took the evening win with a 1.14 % of weight loss. Tom and Kathy aren't going to have to fight over the best throw in the house...they each won one! Congratulations! I'm looking forward to hearing about Tom's 'banner pride' as he wears it all over town this week! :-)

We focused on a great life principle today..."The Buck Stops Here." I shared a truth statement from a life changing book, The Travelers Gift, by Andy Andrews.

YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK: has two parts...one, read the truth statement each day until next Tuesday(I posted it below so ALL could participate) and two, go out and buy the book.

I don't normally suggest a purchase to all my clients...but this book truly is a must have!

I'm excited for the weeks ahead, looking forward to your continued success and celebrating what you've already accomplished. Below you'll find your truth statement to read this week!

THE BUCK STOPS HERE
From this moment forward, I will accept responsibility for my past. I understand that the beginning of wisdom is to accept the responsibility for my own problems and that by accepting responsibility for my past, I free my self to move into a bigger, brighter future of my own choosing.

Never again will I blame my parents, my spouse, my boss, or other employees for my present situation. Neither my education or lack of one, my genetics, or the circumstances of every day life will affect my future in a negative way. If I allow myself to blame these uncontrollable forces for my lack of success, I will be forever caught in a web of the past. I will look forward. I will not let my history control my destiny.
The buck stops here. I accept responsibility for my past. I am responsible for my success. I am where I am today, mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially because of the decisions I have made. My decisions have always been governed by my thinking, therefore I am where I am today mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and financially, because of how I think. Today I will begin the process of changing where I am mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and financially, by changing the way I think. My thoughts will be constructive never destructive. My mind will live in the solution of the future. It will not dwell in the problems of the past. I will seek the association of those who are working and striving to bring about positive changes in the world. I will never seek comfort by associating with those who have decided to be comfortable.
When faced with the opportunity to make a decision, I will make one. The rise a fall of my emotional tide will not deter me from my course. When I make a decision, I will stand behind it. My energy will go into, making the decisions. I will waste none on second thoughts. My life will not be an apology, It will be a statement. The buck stops here. I control my thoughts. I control my emotions. In the future when I am tempted to ask the question, “Why me?” I will immediately counter with the question “Why not me?” Challenges are gifts, opportunities to learn. Problems are the common thread running through great men and women. In times of adversity, I will not have a problem to deal with; I will have a choice to make. My thoughts will be clear. I will make the right choice. Adversity is preparation for greatness. I will accept this preparation. Why me? Why not me? I will be prepared for something great.
I accept responsibility for my past. I control my thoughts. I control my emotions. I am responsible for my success.
The buck stops here.

Always encouraging you,
Letha

NO CAVE NOVEMBER!

You've all heard of "No Shave November?"...neither had I until my son went away to college! The things our tuition dollars buy!! :-) No Shave November has been celebrated for years all over the country. Young and old men alike, make a pact to go without shaving the whole month of November!
Why? Who knows!!

Well, I'm always looking for ways to inspire the clients participating in the Team Challenge...so I came up with our own version of "No Shave November"...it's called "NO CAVE NOVEMBER!" That's right...we're not going to cave in this November. No matter what you've done so far in the Team Challenge, you have an opportunity to hit it hard this month and step into December feeling amazed and proud of your accomplishments! We're not caving into society's unhealthy November eating habits. We're not caving into friends and family that sabotage us, we're not caving into discouragement, or frustration, or lack of motivation. Oh it's on "NO CAVE NOVEMBER!!"
Why? Because we are a community of people living our best lives right now, today. We will use any opportunity to make the right choice and be healthy! That's why!

Every Client who weighed in yesterday received a NO CAVE NOVEMBER graph that will be used as a great visual to keep track of their weight loss for these next 5 Tuesdays in November. The exciting announcement was that the Team Challenge participant with the greatest % of weight loss during the month of November will receive the best prize of all...Healthy Weigh For Life!... as Glenda asked..."Is that worth playing for?" Oh yea!

Not only was Tuesday a day to kick off a new contest within a contest, but it was a day to focus on one of the great lessons of celebration, The Daffodil Principle.
The clinic was decorated like a daffodil garden and we heard the great story that inspired us to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time,
(often just one baby-step at a time),learn to love the doing, and use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change our world.

At Noon, We celebrate with our winning team 'Shrinking Sisters' with a weight loss % of 1.30 for the week! Congratulations Wendy and Krista. You girls are looking great!

Five O'clock brought more weight loss and more enthusiasm. Team 'Thin It To Win It' took the win with a 1.97 %. Christie was lovin' on her partner Amy after their team was announced!

Our 6:30 group hosted the top team of the day! Team 'Lovable Curmudgeon and his Redneck Betty' won for the week with a 2.11% of weight loss. Jeff and Jessie are going to look great sporting their winning banners to church on Sunday!

Our Teams were gifted this week thanks to two Team Challenge participants that donated money last week. Thanks to the love and support of these clients, all three teams won a prize this week!

I can't forget to talk about the outstanding effort of the "Not one stinkin' Piece" challenge! Not one piece of Halloween candy...that's what I'm talking about! Wow...GREAT job you guys! So many of you followed through and the 137 pound loss for the week proved that you did it!

YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THIS WEEK:
Plant those daffodil bulbs! Put those in the ground and look forward to spring when they rise up and say..."Congratulations on your weight loss."

Another fun and successful week of the Team Challenge is behind us...but NO CAVE NOVEMBER is ahead of us and it's going to be great! I'm looking forward to some great weight loss next week.
Until then, post comments on this blog, encourage each other, and we'll see you next week.

Always encouraging you,
Letha

Two are Better than One!

Who ever thought losing weight could be so much fun? That's what we had at the Team Challenge this week...fun! Our teams showed up in style Tuesday proving that two are better than one! With costumes, matching shirts, songs and a poem or two, we entered the 4th week of this team Challenge raring to go! Rumor has it, there was a run on "Doing It" shirts at Champs this week! I love it!

Noon time celebrated our winning team for the day. 'Team One-Eighty' took the weekly win with a 2.36% weight loss! Congratulations Barry and Krystal, you two are going to have a great time at your cooking class with Nancy. 50 pounds were lost by our noon group this week. See the words to one of the great songs of the day at the closing of this blog. Thanks to Wendy from team 'Bad Genes~Further Evidence,' we had a little music this week!

Five O'clock knows how to have fun. We laughed and lost another 58 pounds this week! Team 'Kickin it with Kankles' took the win with 2.0% weight loss for the week. Congratulations to Gail and Alyssa...and by the way, loved your shirts!

Our last group of the night showed their personal style as well. We even had a team get inked for the occasion! Team 'Almost there,' loved the tattoos! With a 1.05% of weight loss for the week, team 'In It To Win It' took the win at 6:30. Congratulations to Mitch and Brenda. They persevered this week and it made a difference!

We focused this week on the importance of learning to create urgency about our weight loss and our health. We are people of urgency. We know what's important, but we respond to what is urgent...(like a bowl of Halloween candy in front of us.) As we head in to this difficult time of year for dieters everywhere, we are convinced that this is the BEST time of year to be working together as teams and as a community, to eat healthy and set limits.

YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK:
Don't eat one piece of Halloween candy...'not one stinkin' piece'!
Create urgency this week about following your nutritional plan! Why is it a MUST?!!

Thank you to our Sponsor for the week, Nancy Higgins. She is a true supporter of The Healthy Weigh and all of you.

Below are the lyrics to the song Wendy wrote and sang at noon. It is to the tune of "I can see clearly now, the rain is gone"..sing along! ( by the way, Wendy should be celebrating her 200 pound weight loss mark with us during this Team Challenge!)

I can see clearly now the haze is gone
All my excuses have flown away
I have decided and that's all there is
It's gonna be a bright, bright, new healthy weigh

Nothing this good can ever come easy
Working each day to make myself strong,
But melting away feels so amazing
I'll measure my food my whole life long

I've burned all my bridges now there's no return
I wont go back to painful yesterdays
This is the future I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright, bright, new healthy weigh.

Have a great week my friends...don't let up, you're doing it!
Let's see some great posts on this blog, you're encouragement last week was outstanding! Get on face book and become a fan of The Healthy Weigh...I'm posting a photo album of yesterdays event!

Always encouraging you,
Letha
